Michigan Foreclosure Task Force: Resources for HOMEOWNERS

Facing Foreclosure? Have Questions About Your Home?
If you are concerned about your mortgage, the first step is to contact a certified nonprofit housing counselor. The counselor will help you decide what to do, and can work with your bank and other parties to help work out a solution. Their services are always free (if someone asks you for money to save your home, it is probably a scam). See below for help finding a counselor.
- Search for a MSHDA-certified housing counseling agency by Michigan county
- HUD's Housing Counseling Agency Locator: Search by city, ZIP, or agency name
- Find free legal services for foreclosure issues
Have You Been Scammed?
If an offer or program seems too good to be true, it probably is. Do not direct your mortgage payments or any other money to someone who promises to save your home. Certified housing counselors always work for free; they will do their best but will never guarantee that they can save your home.
- Report a scam to the Attorney General's office
