Q&A with Jessica:
What drives your passion for neighborhood/community and economic development?
I believe that reinvesting in our communitites has a huge impact on people's lives. I have seen firsthand how transformative it is for someone to simply have a home, and I find it rewarding to combine efforts for the greater good.
Why do you love Michigan?
I love Michigan for many reasons, but most of all for its diversity in both people and landscape. I find Michiganders to be inventive. I love that the challenges we are facing combined with this inventiveness are leading to unique and progressive solutions.
How do your family and/or community inspire your work?
I grew up in a family that was (and still is) incredibly involved in their local community and politics. I have seen the impact that has on the community I grew up in and how necessary it is to be involved to effect change.
What do you do in your free time (if it exists!)?
I love to travel, spend time with friends, read, attend concerts, and go to sporting events (especially baseball games).
