CEDAM's Community-Based Real Estate Development Training (REDT): Creating Leaders in Community Development

This training is geared toward those new to the community development arena or those who need to enhance their development skills before taking on more complex projects. REDT is a series of five 3-day workshops designed to enable community-based organizations with novice experience in development to successfully plan, finance, and manage their first or second project. REDT also focuses on developing the participants leadership skills and the effective management of their nonprofit organization.

Michigan Conference on Affordable Housing

The Michigan Conference on Affordable Housing is held annually in Lansing, and is a three day conference offering sessions in: Multifamily housing, Homeownership, Community Development, Homelessness, Preservation, and Organizational Development. The conference always brings interesting keynote speakers, examples from the past include Henry Cisneros, former HUD Secretary and Ray Suarez, former host of NPR's Talk of the Nation and author of "The Old Neighborhood." The conference always has a large vendor area, offering information and many opportunities to network.

Lead Safe Work Practices Training for Trainers:

CEDAM offers this training for CDC staff people and Municipal staff people who would like to learn how to teach the HUD approved Lead Safe Work Practices Training to contractors, workers who carry out housing rehabilitation activities funded with CDBG, HOME and other federal funds in their respective communities. There are currently no Lead Safe Work Practices Training for Trainers planned, but check back for more details or contact CEDAM at staff@cedam.info if you want to be informed about future trainings!

Lead Clearance Technician Training:

CEDAM has also offered Lead Clearance Technician Training which shows participants the proper steps in collecting dust samples for clearance examinations, and the importance of lead safe homes for children. There are currently no Lead Clearance Technician Trainings scheduled, but check back for more details or contact CEDAM at staff@cedam.info if you are interested in being contacted about future trainings!
