LISC/CEDAM Sustainable Communities Conference was a hit!

Change to CEDAM's membership dues structure - feedback requested

CEDAM's Board is currently investigating a change to membership structure/dues beginning with the 2008 calendar year. This change involves potential increases/decreases to member dues rates. While some organizations may see an increase in the amount of their annual dues, some will actually see a decrease. Organizations that feel their dues may increase in 2008 are welcome to renew early at the existing 2007 member rates (dues must be post-marked by December 31, 2007). The CEDAM Board asks CEDAM's members to review the proposed changes and submit any comments by November 19th to Brian McGrain.

DeRoche Calls for Elimination of Michigan Community Service Commission

Americore logoIn a press statement released on October 31, House Republican Leader Craig DeRoche (R-Novi) unveiled a GOP plan to find cuts to replace the services tax, including the state matching funds for the Michigan Community Service Commission.  The elimination of the $3.9 million in state funding and authority would mean that Michigan would turn back twice the amount in federal funding and cut off support to the community based efforts of AmeriCorps, Learn and Serve, Mentor Michigan, and the Volunteer Investment Grants. Please check out the website for more information, and make your voice heard on this issue.
