Archives Archived Announcements QAP Forum Took Place in Flint on August 30. MSHDA has released a draft of the new QAP for the LIHTC program. CEDAM has prepared a summary of proposed changes and an evaluation of how/whether the draft responds to CEDAM's QAP recommendations from July. CEDAM members gathered in Flint on August 30 to engage in a dialogue with MSHDA staff to discuss these proposed changes to the QAP in advance of public hearings in September. CEDAM will continue to track the QAP process and keep its members informed; contact Angie Gaabo for more information. Angie was previously Executive Director of Community Legal Resources, where she provided CEDAM's CDC members with legal services and policy research and was awarded CEDAM's 2005 "CED Advocate of the Year Award" for service to the industry. Angie has been Interim Director with CEDAM since April and joins Associate Director Brian McGrain and Program Manager Emily Doerr (recently promoted from her position as Intern). MSHDA is currently in the process of holding Information Forums across the state to take comments and recommendations from the general public on the Qualified Allocation Plan (QAP). CEDAM Launches Rural Caucus On March 27, 2002, representatives from twelve organizations attended CEDAM’s first “Rural Caucus” held in Mount Pleasant. After a brief legislative update, a lively discussion ensued on topics ranging from government policy on rural development to the impact of “Smart Growth” on rural housing. It was agreed by all attendees that an ongoing caucus convened periodically by CEDAM would be useful. Aside from planning a second meeting in late summer, other next steps were discussed, including meeting in Lansing with state legislators to discuss rural development issues on an annual basis.
